At Ascend, we do more than teach—we build character and develop the next generation of CEOs, innovators, and change-makers. Through career pathways, life skills training, and dual enrollment, we ensure students are not just graduating, but are fully prepared for college, entrepreneurship, and life. Founder's Profile
Dr. Shanequa N. Scott
Dr. Shanequa N. Scott is a visionary educator, entrepreneur, author, and community leader whose life’s work is centered on creating opportunities, removing barriers, and helping others rise beyond their circumstances. As the Founder and Head of School of Ascend Academy Online High School, Dr. Scott established the school with a powerful belief: every student deserves another opportunity to succeed. She understands that education is not one-size-fits-all, and that life circumstances, family responsibilities, academic setbacks, financial challenges, or traditional school environments should never determine the limits of a student’s future.
With a Ph.D. in Business Administration and years of experience in leadership, education, entrepreneurship, and community service, Dr. Scott brings both academic knowledge and real-world understanding to the mission of Ascend Academy. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in compassion, accountability, excellence, innovation, and the unwavering belief that potential can be developed when students are given the right support and opportunity. Under her leadership, Ascend Academy Online High School was created to provide students with a flexible, affordable, and student-centered pathway toward high school completion while also preparing them for life beyond graduation. Her vision extends far beyond earning a diploma. She believes students should leave Ascend equipped with confidence, life skills, career awareness, leadership abilities, financial knowledge, and the courage to pursue college, entrepreneurship, careers, and meaningful lives.
Dr. Scott is also the Founder and Chancellor of Ascend Christian University and the Founder of Tierra’s Butterflies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening lives and communities through advocacy, education, support, and opportunity. Across every organization she leads, one message remains at the heart of her work: Your beginning does not have to determine your ending. You can rise. You can rebuild. You can achieve. You can ASCEND!!! For Dr. Scott, Ascend Academy is more than a school it is a place of possibility, restoration, achievement, and new beginnings. Her greatest goal is to ensure that every student who enters Ascend knows that their dreams still matter and that their future is still worth fighting for.
